Writing is a process. Rarely does the perfect combination of words flow onto the page. Molding and sculpting their words, writers build and edit until they find the combination that satisfies the soul.
We write to create images, paint pictures, or free angels with words. Sometimes, we write to find God.
When 200 people were asked what book had the greatest impact on the world, many titles were suggested. Three books had an overwhelming response and are among the most translated books in the world:
The Holy Bible, recorded by various authors. Translated as a full text in more than 450 languages, the Bible has some sections that have been translated in 2,527 languages. This is one book that could be read for many years and still surprise the reader. It is the neverending story of mankind's journey with God.
Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tsu. Translated in over 250 languages, Lao Tsu's philosophy is beneficial to people of all religions: Live simply in the life you are given. Do no harm. Treat all men as equals. Appreciate the beauty and gifts of nature. Stop struggling for results. Open your mind and wait. You will find truth.
The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupery. Also translated in more than 250 languages and dialects, this novella is loved by children and adults worldwide. With the unlikely beginning of a stranded pilot, a blonde alien prince wandering in the Sahara desert, and a drawing of a sheep, this allegorical story exposes the ignorance of a narrow mind through friendship and altruism.
Lorri S. Ramey
Lorri S. Ramey is a former English teacher and librarian who could not resist the urge to add another novel to the historical fiction shelves.
In the 1780's, the Ohio River Valley was the great frontier... an integral part of our nation's history.
Creating novels inspired by the hopeful, determined people of the frontier is Lorri's passion. The possibilities are endless.
"I'm not trying to change the world with my novel. I just had a story to tell and characters that grew from my heart."
The
River
of
Prayer
2nd place winner at the 2006 Yosemite Writer's Conference, this novel is an authentic portrayal of frontier life in the Ohio territory of 1786. It is a rollicking tale of conflict, romance, and betrayal in an unpredictable world.
Currently in search of a publishing home, The River of Prayer is inspired by Ohio's rich history of people and events woven into the fictional fabric of the pages (see The River of Prayer for more details).
Hopefully, The River of Prayer will be available for purchase soon. Watch this website for updates and details.
